If there’s one thing I’ve learned from spending time in the sewing room (and hanging out with so many of you), it’s that small projects have big magic. Whether you’re looking for a weekend win, want to use up those favorite scraps, or just need something satisfying between quilt tops - small makes are the perfect reset.

We pulled together some of my favorite tutorials, free patterns, and inspiration links that are perfect for filling in the creative gaps, trying out new techniques, or gifting just because. We can thank Toad Circle for this blog post - we ended up with some bonus half square triangles from our last mystery quilt sew along, Alight Quilt designed by Erin of Mija Handmade. So naturally, we wanted to make sure we had lots of ideas ready to share for how to use them up.
Never heard of Toad Circle before? Well, let me take a second to tell you a little bit about Toad Circle, just in case you’re new around here.
What is Toad Circle?

Toad Circle is a cozy online community created for folks who love sewing, quilting, and sharing the journey with other creative humans. We host a Mystery Quilt Sew Along (currently waiting for sign-up to open in July!) that’s all about play, exploration, and surprise - but you don’t have to join the sew along to be part of the Circle.
We also have a subscription tier just for the community side of things. It gives you access to our private Discord server where we share WIPs, ask questions, cheer each other on, and talk about life, pets, fabric obsessions… you know, the important stuff. It’s a lovely way to feel connected and inspired, even if you’re not ready to dive into a big project.
If that sounds like your vibe, you’ll want to mark your calendar: Toad Circle signups open again at the end of July!
